The DR Congo diplomatic delegation visits and holds a working session at the International School.

During the session, Mr Crispin MBADU PHANZU outlined the functions and responsibilities of diplomatic representative bodies, with particular emphasis on bilateral cooperation, the strengthening of relations between the two countries, and support for collaborative initiatives in education and training. He expressed his wish to deepen ties with Vietnamese partners, especially in the areas of training and youth development in the Congo.

Mr Crispin MBADU PHANZU – Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the Francophonie and the Diaspora of the DR Congo, expressed his desire to strengthen relations with Vietnamese partners.

Representatives of the International School delivered a presentation on the institution, its current training programmes, and in particular its student exchange and mobility schemes. Dr Phung Danh Thang noted that the International School currently has 32 DR Congo students enrolled in the Master’s programme in Information Technology, specialising in Intelligent Systems and Multimedia. The programme is delivered entirely in French and has attracted considerable interest from applicants across the Francophone world. With a tradition spanning more than 20 years, the programme has produced over 400 Master’s graduates in information technology, more than 200 of whom have gone on to pursue doctoral studies abroad, with over 100 having successfully defended their theses. These graduates are now working at universities, research laboratories and major companies in Vietnam and other developed countries. Vice Rector Phung Danh Thang expressed his hope that more Congolese students would come to Vietnam to study and conduct research, thereby further strengthening cooperation in training and research between the two nations.

During the session, representatives of the Congolese diplomatic delegation also presented a number of cooperation possibilities in the field of international training, with a particular focus on lecturer and student exchange activities between the two countries.

Participants discussed the potential for developing training programmes across a range of disciplines, notably languages, water resource management, technology and energy. These programmes could be implemented within the framework of bilateral cooperation, with the support of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). Mr Crispin MBADU PHANZU underscored the importance of enhancing the dissemination of information regarding scholarships and study opportunities in Vietnam to Congolese students.

Also in attendance were students from the Master’s programme in Information Technology, specialising in Intelligent Systems and Multimedia. Mr Rabbi Kimbangi, speaking on behalf of the students, shared that the programme had furnished him with a wealth of new knowledge. He spoke of experiencing a new academic environment and discovering fresh sources of inspiration. Mr Rabbi Kimbangi also introduced the Congolese alumni network of the SIM programme (ALUMNI SIM), noting that a number of former students now serve as experts in various fields.

Mr Rabbi Kimbangi, representing the students, shared that the programme had provided him with a wealth of new knowledge.

The working session between the DR Congo diplomatic delegation and the International School concluded on a positive note. Following the meeting, both parties will continue to engage in dialogue and give concrete shape to cooperative activities, with a particular focus on academic exchange, lecturer and student mobility, and the enhancement of employment integration for young people in both countries.
