I. EAST LONDON UNIVERSITY, UK

1. Introduction

Founded in 1892 as a public university, the University of East London (UEL) has three campuses, at Stratford and Docklands, the newest of which, University Square Stratford, opened in September 2013. It has 8 academic schools and faculties, 600 staff and lecturers, and 17,000 students, of which 2.000 are international students from over 100 countries. In 2010, its programs were officially accredited by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). University of East London (UEL) is a public university that comprises three colleges; College of Applied Health and Communities, College of Arts, Technology and Innovation, and College of Professional Services. The university is counted among the top academic institutions that provide quality education and excellent career opportunities to its students.
UEL has three campuses located in London, including Docklands Campus, Stratford Campus, and University Square. The university administers over 90 societies and clubs, and two student hubs. Also, university students have access to one of the greatest gymnasiums in London, Underground Bar, numerous restaurants and cafes. Located at the Docklands campus, the £21-million Sports Dock complex has two indoor sports arenas, an excellent fitness center, aerobics and dance studios, outdoor pitches and a sports therapy clinic. The outdoor sports facilities at the Docklands campus include football pitches, an outdoor gym, and a basketball court. Located at the Stratford campus, the well-known Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has a tennis court, hockey fields, and a swimming pool. All university campuses maintain good residential facilities and have a pro-learning environment.

II. MOSCOW POWER ENGINEERING INSTITUTE, RUSSIA

1. Introduction

 


Founded in 1930, N.R.U. Moscow Power Engineering Institute is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large metropolis of Moscow (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). This institution also has branch campuses in the following locations: Smolensk, Voljskiy, Konakovo, Dushanbe. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, N.R.U. Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational Russian higher education institution. N.R.U.

MPEI has conducted substantial and award-winning research projects – experimental and theoretical – into the production, transportation and distribution of heat and electrical energy generated using organic and nuclear fuel, as well as into radio electronics, optical electronics, electrical engineering, and nanotechnologies. Among the MPEI’s impressive list of research partners are: Elektrosila, Gasprom, ABB, Motorola, EPRI, Samsung, Massachusetts Technological Institute, University of California, Berkeley and so on.

III. UNIVERSITY OF NANTES, FRANCE

1. Introduction

The University of Nantes was founded in 1970, shortly following extensive upheaval in the French education system that created many French universities that we know today, however an original University of Nantes had existed prior to this, first being founded in 1460. Located in Western France, Université de Nantes is a major higher education and research centre based in the beautiful city of Nantes. Over the last 50 years, Université de Nantes has taken its training and research to the highest of levels and was awarded in 2017 the I-Site label for excellence universities operating internationally.
In collaboration with local schools, university hospital, and research organisations, and removing historical barriers, Université de Nantes is currently developing a new model for the university, focused primarily on creating a global institution in the local area. The objective is to become the one and only University in the Nantes area, internationally renowned for its expertise in research, education and innovation on two major interdisciplinary societal challenges, future fealth and future industry, playing a major role in the economic development of its territory.

V. HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY, UK

1. Introduction


Founded in 1821, Heriot-Watt University (HW) has a rich heritage and an established reputation as a leading research-led university and provider of education around the world. It has campuses in the Scottish Borders and Orkney, Scotland; Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and 6 academic schools, a new Lyell research center and a research park located at its main campus. It has over 800 staff and lecturers, and 30,000 students, including 14,000 international students from 150 countries.

1. Introduction


Founded in 1825 as a public university and located in the center of Huddersfield, the University of Huddersfield contains 7 academic schools offering over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate programs officially accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB). It has 2,000 staff and lecturers, and about 18,280 students.
