1. Introduction
In June 2007 President Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing the Russkiy Mir Foundation, for the purpose of “promoting the Russian language, as Russia’s national heritage and a significant aspect of Russian and world culture, and supporting Russian language teaching programs abroad.”

The Russkiy Mir Foundation has undertaken an international cultural project to develop Russian Centers in partnership with educational organizations around the world. The Foundation’s Russian Centers are created with the aim of popularizing Russian language and culture as a crucial element of world civilization, supporting Russian language study programs abroad, developing cross-culture dialog and strengthening understanding between cultures and peoples.

2. Main activities of Russian Center 
– Archive a wide range of information resources;
– Organize programs and courses;
– Organize artistic performances and programs.
 
3. Cooperation with VNU-IS 
In 2010, VNU-IS was chosen by the Russkiy Mir Foundation for managing the first Russian Center in Vietnam as well as the 47th one in the world. 
 
The Center provides free access to a large volume of regularly updated information resources covering many aspects of the Russian Federation’s economics, culture, education, arts, and science. In addition, the Center organizes workshops, exhibitions, film-viewing evenings and Russian language learning programs.
