VNU-IS lecturers participated in short-term training programmes in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Trần Công Thành attended the international training course titled “Infrastructure Development Risk Management: Lessons from India”, organised by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA). The programme aimed to equip participants with up-to-date knowledge on India’s infrastructure development across transport, energy, social sectors, digital technology, and telecommunications, while also strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and India.
The course was professionally delivered with contributions from leading experts in infrastructure development and brought together 35 experienced public sector managers from 17 countries across four continents. The curriculum covered contemporary infrastructure development strategies in India, including seaports, airports, road systems (metro and highways), social infrastructure (schools, hospitals, communities, and tourism), as well as national and international telecommunications and digital infrastructure. Participants also explored project management approaches integrating digital technologies and GIS, alongside applications of digital solutions in modern infrastructure governance.

Team work session
A variety of teaching methods were employed, including expert lectures, group discussions, presentations, case studies, and field visits. Participants had direct exposure to infrastructure systems and governance models in national-level project management, as well as aviation and metro operations. With its practical, diverse, and highly interactive approach, the course provided participants with comprehensive insights into India’s infrastructure development landscape, including opportunities, challenges, and contemporary management practices for building efficient and cost-effective infrastructure that serves national development needs.
Participants also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of Indo-Pacific regional cooperation in infrastructure development, particularly in advancing sustainable development and shared prosperity. In addition, the programme enhanced participants’ skills in infrastructure project management and the application of technology in managing infrastructure systems and operations.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Phương Mai attended the course “Educational Planning and Management for Educational Administrators” at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in New Delhi. The programme gathered 27 experienced education administrators from 16 countries.
Over two weeks, the training provided valuable insights into key areas such as educational planning, leadership, school governance, technology integration in education, and inclusive education. Sessions on school management, accountability mechanisms, and the role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were particularly impactful.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Phương Mai
Indian experts shared valuable experiences in managing and assuring the quality of education in India—a country with the world’s largest population and one of the most extensive and diverse education systems, characterised by linguistic diversity across regions. During the programme, participants also delivered presentations on their respective national education systems and exchanged perspectives on challenges in educational management toward achieving the SDGs, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education.
These two training programmes have equipped VNU-IS lecturers with practical knowledge, enhancing their management capacity as well as their teaching and research competencies. The programmes also provided opportunities for cultural exchange and professional networking with international peers, contributing to the global visibility of VNU-IS.
In the coming time, it is expected that more VNU-IS lecturers will apply for and be selected to participate in valuable training programmes under the ITEC initiative.
