The 2024 TF SCALE journey, lasting four weeks, has officially concluded with joy, excitement, and a touch of regret because time flew by too quickly, and budding friendships had to part ways. After the pandemic, this was one of the first programs organized by International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, in a face-to-face format. TF SCALE 2024 marked a new beginning and exciting discoveries for both Vietnamese and Singaporean students.

A New Beginning

From February 28 to March 8, 2024, 29 students from International School had the opportunity to participate in the outbound TF SCALE program in the beautiful Lion City. For many Vietnamese students, it was their first time setting foot in Singapore, engaging in a fruitful exchange program with students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Singapore, a new country with new people and new experiences, was not unfamiliar to the ISers, thanks to the friendliness of the Singaporean students.

“Singaporean friends helped me with the smallest things, like carrying bags, filling water bottles, and ensuring my safety. For me, the ten days in Singapore were a priceless and unforgettable experience,” said Tu Nguyet Anh, a Management student.

For Ngô Thu Uyên, a student majored in International Business, TF SCALE 2024 not only provided the opportunity to meet and befriend lovely people from Singapore but also to expand her knowledge about economics, society, environment, and the sustainable development processes of the country.

“TF SCALE 2024 gave me the chance to be a freshman again, just like when I first came to Hanoi. Everything new in Singapore excited me and I was eager to explore. I traveled, learned, and broadened my horizons a lot, thanks to TF SCALE 2024 for these wonderful experiences,” expressed Hải Linh, a student in Hospitality, Sports, and Tourism Management.

Two wonderful weeks in Singapore left an unforgettable impression on the hearts of the Vietnamese students. They engaged, learned, and truly matured after the trip. They also represented the spirit and mindset of their home institution admirably in front of the Singaporean students.

New Discoveries

With enthusiasm, Singaporean students discovered new things in the S-shaped land. Hanoi’s predominantly gloomy and damp weather during their stay – a characteristic of spring – did not dampen their spirits. They actively participated in activities despite the less favorable weather, attending lectures on culture, economy, and society, visiting Vietnamese enterprises, exploring famous landmarks of Hanoi, and enjoying local cuisine. “Through the program, I’ve learned much about Vietnamese culture and customs and gained essential business knowledge. These are invaluable experiences that will stay with me,” said Fatima Musharrat, a student in International Trade and Business.

“I really appreciate the students from International School. Initially, it was hard to get acquainted due to shyness and cultural and language barriers. But we quickly became close. The Vietnamese students were wonderful guides, who were attentive and caring for every member of the group. Very soon, Vietnam felt like a second home. If I have the chance, I will return to Vietnam, to Hanoi, to meet my friends again,” shared Dylan, an Accounting student.

TF SCALE 2024 successfully concluded, achieving its goals and objectives. After four weeks together, the students learned, shared joys and sorrows, cared for each other, and discovered new knowledge and honed necessary soft skills. In Singapore, Vietnamese students received a special welcome. In Vietnam, Singaporean students were deeply moved by the care and attention from VNU-IS students.
