On June 18, 2026, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) officially released the results of the QS World University Rankings 2027 (QS WUR 2027). According to the rankings, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) achieved its fourth consecutive year of improvement, featured among the world’s 751–760 best higher education institutions – its highest position ever in the QS WUR.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) continues to set new milestones, ascending to its highest rankings in the global academic arena.
This achievement resulted from VNU’s comprehensive performance across 5 out of the 9 ranking indicators, including four key indicators ranked among the world’s top 500: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Employment Outcomes, and Sustainability. Notably, VNU ranked 287th globally in Employment Outcomes and 371st globally in Sustainability, maintaining the leading position in Vietnam for both indicators.
In this edition, the QS WUR 2027 evaluated 1,504 higher education institutions (including 94 institutions ranked for the first time) out of a total of 8,808 participating institutions from 106 countries and territories.
Maintaining its leading position in Vietnam for the Employment Outcomes indicator, while rising by 70 places to rank 287th globally, reflects VNU’s sustained efforts to enhance educational quality, strengthen student competencies, and improve graduate outcomes. This achievement also demonstrates the growing recognition and confidence of employers in graduates of VNU.
VNU’s rankings overview showcases stellar improvements in multiple crucial indicators of the QS evaluation.
Alongside its commitment to high-quality education, VNU consistently integrates sustainable development goals into its university development strategy. Sustainability considerations are increasingly embedded across research, teaching and learning, university governance, and community engagement activities. VNU’s ranking of 371st globally and its top position in Vietnam for the Sustainability indicator provide strong evidence of this long-term commitment.
In line with its overall upward trajectory, VNU’s Academic Reputation indicator also improved for the fourth consecutive year. Notably, this marks the first time that VNU has entered the world’s top 400 institutions in this category, achieving a ranking of 365th globally. The result highlights the University’s growing academic standing and the increasing recognition of its contributions within the international scientific and academic community.
The results of the QS World University Rankings 2027 further reaffirm VNU’s commitment to implementing its Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision toward 2045, aiming to become one of the top 100 universities in Asia and among the world’s top 500 higher education institutions. Its continuous progress in international rankings demonstrates that VNU is steadily translating its strategic objectives into tangible achievements that are increasingly recognized by the global academic community.
