On July 7, 2023, Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) announced the second Webometrics rankings of 2023. Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) ranked 671st among the world’s top 700 universities.
In this ranking, although there was a slight decrease in position (from 661 to 671), VNU maintained its top position among Vietnamese higher education institutions, ranked 167th in Asia and 12th in Southeast Asia.
Webometrics is an automated ranking that assesses the digitalization and influence of a higher education institution’s academic resources based on the indicators of the impact of its website systems and online information (Visibility or Impact), openness of its academic resources on Google Scholar (Openess)and scientific citations on the Scopus database (Excellence).
In this edition, Webometrics maintained the same ranking methodology as in January 2021. Specifically, the Visibility has the highest weight (50%), followed by the Excellence (40%) and the Transparency (10%). The Transperency criterion has continued to expand the number of scientist records reviewed and evaluated on the Google Scholar database up to 290 records (top 21-310).
Also in this ranking, that VNU maintained its Impact position close to Top 500, ranked 505th, has shown an increase in VNU’s web content impact not only on the domestic and international academic community but also on the whole society.
