On March 20th, 2024, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – International School (VNU-IS) held a meeting with the delegation from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), USA. Attending the working session were representatives from the Office of Research & Partnership Development and the Office of Student Affairs.
During the meeting, representatives from both institutions introduced VNU-IS and UNL and discussed potential cooperation activities, such as co-supervision in the Ph.D. programs at VNU-IS, internships at UNL, student/faculty exchanges, study tours, joint faculty and student research groups, and visiting scholars.
On behalf of VNU-IS, Dr. Nguyen Van Hai, Deputy Head of Research and Partnership Development, shared the international collaborative strategies with UNL’s representatives and expected to start the cooperation with the most feasible activities such as student/faculty exchange and visiting scholars.
Throughout the discussion, UNL presented its training programs, which share objectives and curriculum alignment with VNU-IS’s current programs, including the undergraduate, graduate programs in economics and management as well as some minors in the fields of journalism and mass communications. These training programs show great promise.
Moreover, UNL representatives emphasized their status as a research university and a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, a consortium of world-class research institutions. They highlighted the opportunities for students to study and apply at other member institutions during their time at UNL, which could greatly benefit the partnership between VNU-IS and UNL.
Additionally, VNU-IS suggested that UNL consider sending students for a semester or a two-week cultural exchange program at VNU-IS. VNU also proposed that UNL establish a pathway program for international students at VNU-IS to participate in a student exchange program.
It is expected that VNU-IS and UNL will strengthen their partnership in the coming time, leading to fruitful results.
