Vice Rector Nguyen Quang Thuan visits and works at the Nantes University, France


On June 2, 2025, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan – Vice Rector of the International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) (VNU-IS) – paid a working visit to the Nantes University, France.

During the meeting between the two institutions, Vice Rector Nguyen Quang Thuan emphasized that the VNU-IS has always prioritized strengthening and expanding its partnership with Nantes University. Since 2007, the collaboration has produced numerous highly qualified graduates capable of meeting the demands of the labor market. “We hope that this visit will further deepen our cooperation and open up new opportunities for collaboration. We truly value the support and partnership of Nantes University,” Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan stated.

At the working session, the two sides finalized terms for implementing a joint Master’s program in Marketing and Sales, with a specialization in Marketing Studies and Actions. Dr. Thuan also proposed joint supervision of PhD students, a suggestion that was warmly welcomed by the representatives of Nantes University.

In addition, the two institutions discussed specific plans for student exchanges and other collaborative programs. Nantes University agreed to receive students from the VNU-IS for exchange programs lasting from one to two semesters and to facilitate their application for French scholarship programs.

VNU-IS and Nantes University first signed a cooperation agreement in 2007, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate education. Under this agreement, the Master’s programs in International Banking, Finance, Insurance, and in Marketing Studies and Actions have been delivered in a full-time 1.5-year format in Vietnam. These programs are accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Founded in 1460, Nantes University is one of France’s most prestigious public universities and the second-largest in the country. It is the leading multidisciplinary research and higher education institution in Northwestern France, with three main campuses located in Nantes, St-Nazaire, and La Roche-sur-Yon. The university comprises 20 academic and research units, institutes, and schools; eight specialized research centers; and three interdisciplinary research centers. In 2025, it ranked among the top 501–600 universities worldwide and 18th among the top 500 universities in France according to The Times Higher Education rankings.
