In May, Dr. Ioannis Thanos, a lecturer at Athens University, Greece, taught over 100 students majoring in International Business (IB) as part of the ERASMUS Plus faculty exchange program between Athens University and International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).

The Erasmus Plus program of Athens University is one of the programs under the Erasmus Plus initiative of the European Union. It provides opportunities for staff, lecturers, and students to study, gain professional practice, accumulate work experience, and enhance their cultural and linguistic understanding abroad. The program also enables lecturers and students of International School to experience an international educational environment and receive credit recognition as per regulations. The program is expected to be implemented from 2023 to 2027, with each institution sending one lecturer and one student for exchange each year with financial support from the Erasmus Plus program.

Dr. Ioannis Thanos shared on the topic “Experiences in Strategy Implementation in an International Environment”.

The topic Dr. Ioannis Thanos shared was “Experiences in Strategy Implementation in an International Environment,” a part of the International Strategic Management course. During three classroom sessions, Dr. Ioannis Thanos introduced the strategic solutions of large corporations when entering international markets and the issues encountered during the strategy implementation process.

Dr. Ioannis Thanos and International Business students had lively discussions about specific cases of major corporations. Drawing from his years of experience in teaching and corporate consulting in the field of strategy, Dr. Ioannis addressed many challenging issues that businesses often face when implementing global strategies. The students at the International School were very enthusiastic about his insights.

Dr. Ioannis Thanos has 8 years of teaching experience in the UK after completing his postdoctoral program at the University of Glasgow. He has published numerous papers in prestigious scientific journals, received several awards for his research papers at international conferences, and has been honored with teaching awards in Greece.
In the near future, International School will host more international scholars to exchange ideas and teach students. This is a great opportunity for International Business students to gain knowledge and practical insights from a globally diverse environment.
