International School promotes cooperation with Nanhua University, Taipei (People’s Republic of China)


On February 7th, 2022, the International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-IS) hosted a meeting with Nanhua University, Taipei (NHU), Taiwan (China) to promote cooperation between the two institutions in academic, research, student and staff exchange affairs.

The meeting was held with the participation of representatives from both institutions: From NHU, Prof. Tsong Ming Lin, President and leader representatives from Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, College of Management, Bachelor’s Program of International Business; From VNU-IS, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice-Rector, and representatives from the Offices of Research and Partnership Development, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Applied Linguistics.

At the meeting, the two sides introduced briefly their institutions, focusing on their outstanding achievements and strengths. The two parties also discussed the cooperative possibilities between them in the coming time to foster academic cooperation between the two institutions. In that connection, the two sides signed the Minute of Meeting (MoM) to advance the development of the partnership and mutual interests, on a reciprocal basis of respect for the independence and equal status of each university on Student exchanges (including field trips and volunteering opportunities); University faculty and researchers exchanges; Identification of methods for academic collaboration, including summer school and visiting lecturers.; Organization of joint research projects, including conferences and meetings; The exchange of information and publications and Other activities mutually agreed upon by the two institutions. In the coming time, VNU-IS and NHU will work closely together to promote mutual fruitful collaborations.

Nanhua University (NHU) was founded in 1996 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Funded through the support of millions of Fo Guang Shan followers, NHU is the first comprehensive and multidisciplinary university established by Fo Guang Shan. NHU is a member of the Fo Guang Shan International University Consortium, the country’s first cross-nation university system. Its educational philosophy is based on the principles of diligence, honesty, and humility. These principles are the defining qualities and driving force at NHU to motivate students to realize their goals, make a leading contribution to society, and serve the disadvantaged and underprivileged. The curricula and programs offered at NHU center around Life Education, Environmental Sustainability, Intellectual Innovation, and the Three Acts of Goodness initiative.

NHU has approximately 5,500 students: 78% undergraduates and 22% postgraduates. There are five colleges: College of Management, College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Design, and College of Science and Technology, with a total of 20 undergraduate programs, 24 graduate programs, and 1 doctoral program.
