From 22th April, 2024, International School – Vietnam National University (VNU) has officially become a member of ASEAN IVO (ICT Virtual Organization of ASEAN). The ICT Virtual Organization (IVO) is an international organization comprising research institutes and educational institutions specializing in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the ASEAN region and Japan. The mission of ASEAN IVO is to identify and emphasize strategic ICT research areas within the ASEAN region, and to promote collaborative research projects in the region.
This is such an important step of International School laying the foundation for expanding international cooperation networks, particularly with ASEAN countries in the field of ICT. Besides, participating in the network of ASEAN IVO brings back opportunities for faculties as well as students to share their knowledge, conduct research, and develop technology with leading organizations in the field, contributing to regional and global development. In the coming time, International School will also enhance participation in international collaborative projects, dialogues on emerging research areas, as well as build breakthrough technological solutions with partners in the ASEAN IVO network.
International School officially became a member of ASEAN IVO from April 2024.
International School has over 20 years of history in building and developing, executing the mission of being an “International Hub ” within the VNU, aiming for sustainable development with a multidisciplinary and multi-field education model from bachelor’s to doctoral degrees. Currently, the International School is implementing 15 undergraduate programs, 7 master’s programs, and 2 doctoral programs. Since 2022, the International School has started to offer 3 joint bachelor’s-master’s programs, including Financial Technology and Digital Business, Applied Information Technology, and Industrial Systems Engineering and Logistics. The International School’s educational programs are designed with an interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary orientation, based on the “bridge” philosophy – providing learners with comprehensive understanding and skills in technology, engineering, management, and marketing.
The International School is the only university within the VNU that offers programs entirely in English. The university attracts nearly 100 students and trainees from 20 countries across 4 continents to study and conduct research. The university has developed and is continuously expanding partnerships with nearly 40 universities, educational, scientific and technological organizations around the world.
The mission of ASEAN IVO is to identify and emphasize strategic information and communication technology research and development areas within the ASEAN region, and to develop collaborative projects in the region. This will provide an optimized approach to strengthening partnership connection and international cooperation across the ASEAN region, in order to address social challenges as well as limitations in communication connectivity in rural areas and disaster situations, language barriers, cybersecurity, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and other relevant issues.
ASEAN IVO will operate as a platform for proposals from member organizations and to evaluate activities, thereby opening a communication channel on potential research and collaborative activities, thus promoting international alliances between universities and research institutes in the ASEAN region and Japan.
