In order to realize the university mission of providing high-quality human resources with good moral character, proficient language skills, and professional competence in line with the increasingly high demands of the labor market and serving the socio-economic development of the country, and recognizing the importance of practical training for learners, the International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-IS) has a strategic focus on constructing laboratories and practical training workshops. These facilities include rooms and workshops for various applications, including information technology in business and digital finance, intelligent systems in logistics and automation, as well as information security and cybersecurity laboratories.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Trung Thanh – the school rector, giving directives during the meeting.
On August 3, 2023, the School’s Board of Rectors, representatives from specialized faculties and departments had a concentrated working session at the Hoa Lac campus to discuss and finalize the proposed plan and solutions for building laboratories and practical workshops at the International School to serve 15 training programs. The laboratories and practical workshops are constructed, operated, and upgraded annually to effectively serve the studying, teaching, and scientific research of the students, learners, and faculty members of the school.
Lecturers of Faculty of Economics and Management collaborated to propose the construction of the practical workshops.
According to the educational philosophy of the International School, practical experience plays a crucial role, enabling students to apply the knowledge they have gained to real-life situations and understand the operating principles of tools, equipment, and machinery in their respective fields of study. This, in turn, helps in honing practical skills and adaptability in real-world situations. Moreover, practical experience helps learners develop essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management; and allows them to learn from the experiences of working directly with instructors and industry experts.
Lecturers of Faculty of Applied Sciences exchanged ideas and consulted with experts.
During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Le Trung Thanh, the school principal, emphasized the importance of laboratories and practical workshops for learners. Besides logical thinking, practical skills are very important for students. Without regular skill development, students will inevitably fall behind and face quick elimination. Rector Le Trung Thanh directed the departments and faculties of the school to dedicate significant time and effort to building laboratories and practical workshops so that students can have early access for internships and research opportunities.
Lecturers of Faculty of Applied Linguistics conducted research and explored the language laboratories.
It can be said that a modern system of laboratories and practical workshops is the “stage”; where each student has the opportunity to discover themselves, leverage their strengths, and have the tools and advantages to become a “promising candidat” in the eyes of employers. Therefore, in the coming time, the units within the school will devise specific plans to promptly build laboratories and practical workshops aligned with the training programs. The school will focus on optimizing resources for purchasing and equipping the laboratories, practical workshops to allow learners to immediately engage in real-world activities.
