Li Yifan (23, China) is currently enrolled in the Dual-Degree Programme in Management at VNU-IS (International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

Li Yifan chooses VNU-IS as a strategic starting point for his international career.
With a long-term plan to work in Vietnam and a one-year transfer to the United States as part of his academic pathway, Yifan chose Vietnam as a strategic starting point—to better understand a fast-growing market, strengthen academic English, and gain international learning experience while studying here.
Vietnam through the choice of an international student
“My name is Li Yifan, I’m 23 years old and I’m from China.” Yifan is pursuing the Dual-Degree Programme in Management, focusing on building management knowledge to support his future career direction.
What led Vietnam to become Yifan’s study destination came from a very practical foundation. His mother runs an international trading company in Vietnam, which allowed him to observe and understand the business environment here early on. More importantly, he has witnessed the pace of Vietnam’s economic development and considers it a promising market—well suited to long-term career planning.

Building a strong foundation in a dynamic market like Vietnam.
The Dual-Degree Programme: A Foundation in Vietnam, the next step in the United States
For Yifan, the key strength of the Dual-Degree Programme lies in how well it matches his academic and professional plans. Studying in Vietnam first enables him to adapt to local life, build knowledge of the domestic market, and explore suitable opportunities. He will then transfer to the United States for one year to access international academic resources and broaden his global perspective in management.
He describes this pathway as a “good fit” for his long-term goals, as it balances hands-on exposure in a dynamic market with academic preparation for the next stage in the United States. Yifan characterises the learning environment at VNU-IS in two words: “supportive” and “international.” Courses are clearly structured and regularly updated, combining knowledge with practical skill development.

The international learning environment at VNU-IS helps students develop essential skills.
Beyond academics, Yifan values the support available to international students, including academic guidance, English-language support, assistance with student affairs and daily life, and cultural activities. Studying fully in English, he notes, has helped him make noticeable progress in academic communication, writing, and presentation.
Living and studying in Vietnam has helped me become more independent, adapt better, and be more open to cultural differences.
