The event was attended by Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice Rector of the International School; representatives from Keuka College (USA) and HELP University (Malaysia); leaders of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Science, Technology and Development Cooperation, and the Faculty of Economics and Management; along with 24 students from the Dual Degree Program in Management and 57 students from the Dual Degree Program in Marketing.

In his opening remarks, Vice Rector Nguyen Quang Thuan highlighted the distinctive features of the International School’s Dual Degree programs, notably the opportunity for students to study one semester at a partner institution and to receive two degrees - one from VNU and one from the partner university - upon graduation. He emphasized that the semester abroad plays a vital role, offering students the chance to explore and immerse themselves in an international environment and to experience life as global citizens. “The School and families hope that you will make the most of this valuable opportunity to learn, develop soft skills, and expand your networks in a new and challenging academic environment,” Dr. Thuan noted.

During the training session, faculty members provided students with essential and practical information about the host countries, regulations to be observed while studying at partner institutions, necessary skills to prepare before departure, and strategies for quickly adapting to a new environment. They encouraged students to be proactive in their studies, actively engage with international lecturers and peers, work in diverse groups, and avoid limiting themselves to small circles of students from the same cohort. In particular, faculty members expressed their hope that students would make a positive impression on lecturers and peers at partner universities, thereby fostering a favorable image of Vietnamese students and International School students in the international community.

Parents and students of Cohort 5 of the Dual Degree programs also had the opportunity to meet senior students from previous cohorts, who shared their experiences and provided additional useful information for the upcoming journey. Senior students extended their best wishes to Cohort 5 for a smooth transition and successful academic experience.

In 2019, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi authorized the International School to implement two Dual Degree programs: Marketing in collaboration with HELP University (Malaysia) and Management in collaboration with Keuka College (USA). These were the first international joint training programs in which VNU and its overseas partner universities jointly confer degrees. In addition to earning two bachelor’s degrees from VNU and the partner university, students undertake programs taught entirely in English. The curriculum framework and course content are jointly designed and developed by the International School and partner universities, with substantial input from experts and industry representatives, ensuring strong alignment with labor market demands.

Throughout their studies, students complete one transfer semester at a partner institution and may also receive student exchange scholarships offered by partner universities. This provides valuable opportunities for International School students to experience overseas life and academic environments, interact with lecturers and students from around the world, and connect with major and multinational enterprises. Such international exposure is a meaningful asset, enabling students to more readily adapt to multicultural and international working environments in the future.

The International School extends its best wishes to Cohort 5 students of the Dual Degree programs for a meaningful and rewarding study period at HELP University and Keuka College, and hopes they will quickly integrate into their new environments while remaining proactive and engaged in building relationships with international peers.
