Bridging the Gap between academic learning and practice: Students explore the environment of a five-star international hotel

On July 23, 2026, students from the Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management program at International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNUIS), took part in a field trip and thematic discussion at InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72. The visit provided students with an opportunity to experience a professional working environment, gain practical industry insights, and connect their academic knowledge with real-world hotel operations.

As part of the program, students participated in a discussion titled “Career Opportunities in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry and Sustainable Practices in Five-Star International Hotel Operations”. Through practical insights shared by industry professionals, students gained a more comprehensive understanding of the hospitality and tourism sector, including career opportunities, recruitment requirements, working environments, and professional development pathways.

In addition to exploring career prospects, the discussion on sustainability in hotel operations provided students with practical insights into emerging trends in the modern hospitality industry. As businesses increasingly prioritize sustainable development, hotel operations are no longer focused solely on enhancing service quality but also on environmental responsibility, efficient resource management, and the development of sustainable business models.

Through the site visit and thematic discussion, students had the opportunity to observe and explore the working environment of a five-star international hotel, gaining a clearer understanding of the professional expertise and essential skills required in the industry. The experience also encouraged students to define their career goals, strengthen their awareness of emerging trends in hospitality and tourism, and better prepare for their future professional journeys.

The field trip to InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 was one of the practical learning activities designed to strengthen collaboration between the university and the business community while providing students in the Hotel, Sports, and Tourism Management program with valuable opportunities to learn from industry practice. Through such experiences, students can gradually build their knowledge, skills, and professional experience, preparing themselves to meet the evolving demands of the labor market in the hospitality, sports, and tourism sectors.
